Description

The UCLA Joint Institute for Regional Earth System Science and Engineering (JIFRESSE) invites applications for a position of Assistant Project Scientist. Research emphasis will be on evaluation and comparison of a number of different scatterometer-retrieved products that are being produced as part of a MEaSUREs-funded work to develop an extended and consistent ESDR of the ocean surface winds, stress and their dynamically-significant derivatives for the period 1999-2022.

The successful candidate will evaluate current and future product versions using large-scale models. S/he will also assist in the analysis of this data with regard to their depiction of important phenomena (e.g. tropical cyclones, trends in the ITCZ intensity, depiction of the El-Nino signals, etc.) The role will work and coordinate with professors and scientists from UCLA and JPL.
