Job Overview

The Departments of Physics and Materials Science & Engineering at Drexel University invite applications for a joint faculty position in the area of theoretical (computational) condensed matter physics and materials science. The appointment is anticipated to be at the Assistant Professor level starting on September 1, 2019. The ideal candidate is expected to have demonstrated a strong record of research accomplishments, a potential for establishing a significant externally funded research program, and a strong interest in undergraduate and graduate teaching. Exceptional candidates may be considered for appointment at a more senior level. A Ph.D. in physics or equivalent and at least two years of postdoctoral experience is required. Candidates should have demonstrated excellence in research and teaching, as evidenced by scientific papers, research or teaching awards, invited talks, or other honors.


Essential Functions

We are seeking candidates in the broad area of theoretical/computational condensed matter physics, materials science and interdisciplinary nanoscience. We are looking for individuals to establish a vigorous externally-funded research program which will complement the existing research in the Physics Department and the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. 

Teaching responsibilities will include physics and materials science courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Engineering.
