Position Overview

Indiana University Bloomington invites applications for multiple tenure-track faculty positions in the field of computer engineering. Applicants at the assistant professor rank are sought to serve as members of the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering, with potential appointments in Informatics, Computer Science, or Intelligent Systems Engineering.

These positions support the launch of the new Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering program.

Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Computer Architecture: In-/near-memory or in-/near-storage processing, circuit/technology impacts (3D/chiplets/interposer/wafer-scale), quantum, superconducting, machine learning, edge computing, security/privacy

  • Digital Logic Design and VLSI: ASIC/FPGA design for cyber-physical systems, SoC, multi-die architectures, accelerator-based computing, brain-inspired/quantum computing, emerging devices, low-power/reliable design, secure hardware/software

  • Operating Systems and Systems Software: OS, file/storage systems, AI/ML systems, distributed/cloud/mobile systems, secure/reliable systems, big data, embedded systems, virtualization, networking

  • Analog and Mixed-Signal Electronics: Circuits for AI/ML workloads, analog circuits/data converters, RF/wireless/wireline systems, imagers, MEMS, medical/display circuits, power management, 2.5D/3D integrated circuits, secure computing designs

Expectations:

  • Develop independent and externally funded research programs

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the candidate’s area of expertise

  • Contribute to growth and success of the computer engineering curriculum

Appointment:

  • 10-month appointment, ideally starting August 1, 2026 (start date negotiable)


Responsibilities

  • Maintain a robust research portfolio and obtain extramural funding

  • Teach and mentor a diverse population of undergraduate and graduate students

  • Provide service to the department, school, and university

  • Engage actively with the profession and community

  • Candidates with a focus on computer engineering are strongly encouraged to apply

Location:

  • IU Bloomington campus, Bloomington, Indiana


Basic Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field from an accredited institution

  • Demonstrated potential for or evidence of excellence in research, teaching, and service
