Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Computer Vision (Two Posts)

We are seeking two full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistants in Computer Vision to join the EPSRC Project ‘Seebibyte: Visual Search for the Era of Big Data’. You will have the opportunity to work as part of the Visual Geometry Group and Biomedical Image Analysis group at the Department of Engineering Science in central Oxford. The post is available until 31 May 2020.


The objectives of the project are first, to carry out fundamental research in order to develop the next generation of computer vision algorithms that are able to analyse, describe and search image and video content with human-like capabilities; and second, to transfer these methods to other disciplines and to industry. There will be a particular focus on Deep Learning methods.


You will develop and implement novel computer vision and learning algorithms to automatically and accurately analyse the content of images and videos. You will transfer and apply these algorithms to disciplines other than computer vision, and to industry and manage your own academic research.


Please indicate in your application if your primary interest is in (1) computer vision/machine learning, or (2) computer vision/machine learning applied to biomedical science.


You should possess a doctorate, or near completion of doctorate, in computer vision or machine learning for the primary interest (1), or in computer vision or machine learning applied to bio-medical imaging for the primary interest (2). A background and expertise in recognition in images and videos and machine learning together with good written and oral communication skills are essential.
