RESEARCH SUPPORT ASSOCIATE, Biological Engineering (part-time, 20 hrs/wk.), to provide basic laboratory support for thirty-five to forty researchers. Will support daily lab operations for three laboratories. Responsibilities include assisting with basic lab maintenance in laboratory, freezer, biosafety cabinets, and tissue culture rooms; performing basic research experiments; replenishing supplies and solutions; keeping water baths, freezers, and tissue culture incubators clean; maintaining prep room and equipment according to established standards; and assisting with maintaining laboratories to meet standard laboratory inspections. Will play a supportive role and work directly under the supervision of the lab manager. These tasks are collaborative in nature and require working as a member of a team toward a common objective. Will be trained in all the basic laboratory techniques used in this position.


Job Requirements


REQUIRED: a high school diploma; basic knowledge of general laboratory practices and procedures; basic computer skills; excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills; strong organizational and time-management skills; detail orientation; ability to follow complex directions, work both independently and as part of a team, and move objects up to 50 lbs. Seek someone who demonstrates initiative and a “can-do” approach to the work. Associate’s degree in a science discipline preferred. Laboratory research support experience a plus. May be subject to hazards including proximity to mechanical parts and electrical current or exposure to high heat or chemicals. Job #16055-4

 

The schedule is flexible, four hours per day, five days per week within the operating hours of 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.
