Faculty Position in Mechanical Engineering / Energy

Université catholique de Louvain (UCL)

The Université catholique de Louvain (UCL) invites applications to a Faculty Position in
Mechanical Engineering / Energy with appointment at the level of Professor.

The Louvain School of Engineering (Ecole polytechnique de Louvain, EPL) and the Institute of
Mechanics, Materials and Civil Engineering (iMMC), to which the position is attached, seek an
outstanding individual with well-established research experience and international stature. All
research areas of Mechanical Engineering will be considered and connections to Energy Science
will be particularly appreciated.

The successful candidate will have teaching assignments in the field of Mechanical Engineering
within the various degree programmes organised by the Louvain School of Engineering at bachelor,
master and postmaster levels. Master courses are taught in English and bachelor courses in French.

Good knowledge of both spoken and written French is thus required. If this is not the case, the
applicant will commit to learn French and be able to teach bachelor courses at UCL within 3 years.
Aside teaching and research, a Faculty member at UCL is encouraged to address societal challenges
and have an impact on economy, socio-cultural changes or cooperation with developing countries.
The appointment starts on September 2018 or on a mutually agreed date thereafter.

UCL is a full University offering the opportunity of cross-disciplinary research collaborations with
humanities, medical sciences, and obviously with all fields of engineering including mechanics,
energy and electromechanics, materials, construction, biomedical engineering and applied
mathematics. The Louvain school of engineering (EPL) is committed to excellence and innovation
in education, witnessing constant growth of enrolments since 10 years at bachelor, master and
doctorate levels. The Institute of Mechanics, Materials and Civil Engineering (iMMC) is a vibrant
and highly collaborative research environment involving 28 faculty members and outstanding
facilities. The Louvain-la-Neuve city campus offers a unique modern living environment inside a
naturally preserved setting, conveniently connected at the heart of Europe.

Applicants should e-mail one single PDF file including a cover letter, an extended curriculum vitae
